Life and Work Skills Programme

 Ashford Together are launching an exciting new project, ‘Life, Work and Skills Program’ at the beginning of March 2021, that is part of their Maker Life programme which is all about ‘Making life better together.” 

This project brings together volunteers, local business, statutory agencies, other voluntary sector partners and churches to work with the homeless and vulnerable across Ashford. 

This first level of this project involves building general life skills such as cooking, gardening, DIY, budgeting etc. The next level is to identify potential career paths for the cohort and develop these with local businesses and a team of mentors and coaches. 

They are looking for volunteers who are passionate about mental wellbeing, and employment. 

“We see our volunteers gaining as much out of participating in the programme as those we want to support.”

The volunteers will be offered:

  • Training 
  • Ongoing Support
  • Team work
  • Mentoring skills
  • Communication & Listening skills

Induction Training will be given on the week commencing 22nd February

What is required to join as a volunteer:

  • Over 18years old
  • Live locally and able to get to venue, Bright City Church, Bank Street, Ashford
  • References
  • Reading and writing skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Communication skills
  • 3 hours per week commitment
