At Ashford Vineyard, we sometimes run courses on a variety of topics. These include the following:
The Alpha Course is designed primarily for people who aren’t churchgoers and each course is open to everyone who would like to attend. As a course, Alpha attracts a diverse range of people of different ages and backgrounds, holding many different viewpoints. Over 7,000 churches are currently running the Alpha course across the UK in rural and urban settings, including every major UK city.
Alpha courses are based around small groups of people, hosted by one or two leaders whose role is to facilitate and encourage discussion. The whole Alpha course lasts for 12 weeks, with a day away in the middle. Each session begins with a meal – a relaxed chance to get to know others in the small group. There is then a short talk, which looks at a different aspect of the Christian faith each week. This is followed by a time of discussion in the small groups, where everyone is welcome to contribute their opinion, ask questions and discuss with the rest of the group. The emphasis is upon exploration and discovery in a relaxed and informal environment. If it’s something you’re interested in doing then just drop us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know! Please see the Alpha page for details of the current course.
Vision and Values is an evening for people who are new to Ashford Vineyard and wanting to find out more about what we’re all about. You will get to hear Chris and Nic’s story of how and why they ended up in Ashford, how the church started and the stories that have been part of it’s journey along the way. You’ll also get to explore the values held by the Vineyard movement as a whole, find out about how Vineyard churches are structured, and the basics of what we stand for when it comes to theology. Finally, you’ll have a chance to learn more about what is going on in the life of the church, and meet some of our DLT (Doing Life Together) group leaders. It’s the perfect way to dip your toe in if you’re new to us and have some questions.
Discipleship Year is an intensive and accelerated opportunity for personal and spiritual growth. Click here for all the details…
Story from the Heart is a series of teaching delivered on DVD in six sessions by Jay Pathak and Carl Medearis. It’s a great tool for small groups to use as a platform for discussion around how we can share our relationship with Jesus with others without the fear of being weird! Jay and Carl share their experiences of how they have influenced hundreds of people with their stories of knowing Jesus, whilst turning traditional evangelism training on its head and presenting their advice in practical and accessible ways. This teaching series really helps us to see that even those of us who would be the last to call themselves natural evangelists have a part of play in sharing God’s love to those around them.
Rooted in Good Soil is a book and DVD teaching resource ideal for use within small groups. Just like a fruitful tree, authentic faith is the result of careful tending, the passage of time, and good growing conditions. According to Jesus’ parable of the sower, true belief takes root in good soil. But how is this truth translated into changed lives? Pastor and farmer Tri Robinson series invites you to cultivate a deep and lasting faith through this insightful exploration of Jesus’ parable. In a culture that seems enamored with quick fixes and superficial amusements, Rooted in Good Soil will show you a more intentional and fulfilling way to live.
AV Leadership Training is a course that serves to train and equip people in the church to take on roles of responsibility and leadership in lots of different ways. It explores the vision and values of AV specifically in the context of leadership, personal development in a leadership capacity and spiritual formation. If you are interested in this course then just chat to Chris and Nic for full details.
The Hub Training programme is a national training scheme for leaders within the Vineyard movement. Hub aims to gather together and build communities of leaders looking to invest and intentionally develop their leadership gifting whilst continuing to serve and lead in the context of their local church. The Hub training programme focuses on three main areas of leadership training: spiritual formation, hands on experience for ministry and biblical training. Students can choose to complete the course over a two year period (fast track) or three years (slow track). More information is available at www.hubtraining.org.
