Ashford Sings!

Started in October 2010, this is a choir for all those who love to sing, be it in the shower, car or with a hairbrush. We get together once a week for a practise and work towards  gigs/concerts where we make a sound that people will love to hear and maybe even want to come and be a part of! There’s no catch to being a member and it’s certainly not a ‘church’ choir, it’s just a gift if you like, to the people of Ashford and surrounding area. Come, sing, enjoy!

Our repertoire is pop/rock songs (English, not Latin!) and there’s no audition to get in. All you need is enthusiasm. This is a choir for Ashford (mainly!) and in Ashford. Many people have come along and been a part and most are still there! Currently we have between 200 and 250 people on the books…It’s some sound!

As a choir, we are partners with Pilgrims Hospice and last year raised nearly £5000 to help them in their valuable work. We have performed at County Square, Designer Outlets, Lympne School, Ashford International Hotel and have been on three international tours to the Rheinlands in Germany in 2012, to Fougeres in France in 2013, and to Haarlem, Amsterdam in 2014 – fabulous! For the last two years we also had loads of fun singing under the Christmas tree at Trafalgar Square and can’t wait to do it again this year.

This year we are staying in the UK with our first tour to Windsor in March and there are others in the planning stages. Red Nose celebrations will be our first gig of the season at Sainsbury’s (a light bit of Comic Relief!) and The Big Quiz gig in aid of The Pilgrim’s Hospices will take place at The Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone.  Some fantastic songs (and moves!) to learn and perform for 2015. Challenging and a whole load of fun!
